By using upper cabinets 12" deep both up and down on the kitchen wall, the kitchen now has lots and lots of storage. A 2x4 kick plate under the lower cabinets was required to raise them to counter height and match the rest of the cabinetry. The matching countertop was trimmed to fit the 14" deep wall. This congiguration replaced the refrigerator, a double oven, and unreachable upper cabinets.
